I’ve got to hand it to the AFA, they’ve produced a stunning work of pure, balls-out bigotry, a video entitled, “They’re Coming to Your Town.”  Who are “they”, you ask?  Well, gay people.  You see, it seems that some gay people in Eureka Springs, AR got themselves elected to the city council.  I mean, the nerve of these people!  How dare a minority group seek representation in a representative democracy!  Seriously though, some gay people get elected to the city council and the AFA gets the vapors.  You really have to take a moment to appreciate such unadulterated homophobia.

I suggest clicking through and watching the trailer, it’s a doozy.  You get the feeling that these people seriously believe that the Eureka Springs city council, now infested with dreaded homosexuals, is going legislate manditory buggery.  Of course, what they are really upset about is the new domestic partner registry that the council established, which belies the religious right claim that they only oppose same-sex marriage, not domestic partnerships.

And then there is the claim in the trailer that the homosexuals on the city council are intolerant of Christians.  Think about that for a moment.  Gay people get elected to the city council and then extend benefits to homosexuals that the town homophobes wish to deny them…and it is the homosexuals who are being intolerant?  Well I suppose that is true in some sense: They are intolerant to the intolerance of fundamentalists who long for a world in which homosexuals do not exist.  So there you have it, anyone who stands in the way of their quest to turn homosexuals into second-class citizens is intolerant.
